Wedding Planners are not just for the RICH and Famous

Time and time again I have heard married women speak of the fact that the one aspect of their Wedding they wish they had invested in was a Wedding Planner/Coordinator. Why? Because after all the money and time invested in the special day they had imagined since they were kids, the Wedding fell apart. They just couldn’t be the bride and manager all at the same time. But what always surprises me is the amount of Brides that say that they are shocked how affordable it is to hire a planner these days.

There’s one for every budget and taste. Perhaps when you think of a planner you imagine the Royal Wedding or Jennifer Lopez running around with her fanny pack. Now her depiction of a planner isn’t too far off…we wear many hats. However, why should YOU have to be the one wearing all the darn hats? The only thing that should be on your head is your veil, point blank.

Trust me when I say that I understand the many stressors of planning an event. It can become very expensive, very quickly. But there are some things you shouldn’t skimp on and one of them is a Coordinator. You don’t have to hire one to plan the entire day if you don’t want to. Here are some of the many options you can choose from:

Month of Coordinator

Starting around 6-8 Weeks prior to the Wedding day, your wedding coordinator will step in to ensure that all plans are in place. They will take a look at what you have booked so far, identify any loose ends, and create a timeline of the day. Then your Coordinator will run the Wedding day from beginning to end.

Full Wedding Planning

This is ideal for a couple that is very busy in their personal lives. Planning a Wedding is a lot of work and the average couple spends 250 hours on this alone. Hence hiring a professional Wedding Planner is the best option. They will take care of all of the details and execute your vision for the Wedding.

Consultation

Aren’t exactly sure where to start? Have questions or looking for vendor recommendations but don’t want to commit to hiring a planner?  Book a consultation. They will sit down with you and your partner and assist you in any way you need. This is usually on an hourly basis and they will not coordinate the Wedding unless you hire them to do so. You may find that after the meeting hiring them will be a lot less stressful. This is just a great low cost option to get you started on the right path.

So no matter what your budget or particular needs are, hiring a planner is very accessible. Be transparent about what you want and be prepared to fully enjoy your Wedding day like a BOSS.

A beautiful wedding at A Perfect Day's Lavender Barn

This early May wedding at the gorgeous rustic Lavender Barn run by A Perfect Day Weddings was one to remember. I am soo in love with this Kitchener - Waterloo Venue. Danielle G. Events had the pleasure of coordinating this chilly Spring celebration for Emily and Brad.

Before I left my house I checked the weather and knew that I had to bundle up. The Weather channel called for rain, high winds, and a bit of snow. Life as a Canadian eh? But I knew without a doubt that the weather would have no effect on the smiles of the Bride and Groom. And boy was I right! The moment the groomsmen arrived to greet the guests in their black stretch limousine I knew that this was gonna be the party of the century. The Bride and her bridesmaids were in such a great mood and the look of sincere relaxation and excitement on Emily's face was priceless. The original plan was to have an outdoor ceremony but due to the cold rainy weather we had to turn the dance floor into the ceremony and prepare to flip the whole room for food stations! Yes you heard that right, Food stations. Little Mushroom Catering worked their magic and made it happen. They even braved the cold and had a pasta station outside where guests could order custom pasta dishes.

There were tears of joy, laughter, and they partied like it was 1999 (notice the Prince reference? If you did you are definitely my type of people) .  Guests were taking goofy photos at the photobooth provided by Zattu Photo and Video. Even I couldn't help but bust a move cause the music provided by Cuneyt Yetkiner was pumping ( did I mention he played the Flamenco guitar during the ceremony?)!

Quality planning, great vendors, and the ability to roll with unexpected changes are what memorable weddings are made of.

Stepping outside the box

Stepping outside the box

This is my first blog post. Wow...it's really happening. Do you know how long it took me to narrow down what I wanted to write about. At first I thought about talking about the do's and don'ts of Wedding planning or top 10 must haves for an Epic Party.

But then I realized that topics like those are a dime a dozen. You could find a million posts from fellow Event Planners blogging about the same topic. But that just ain't me! Yes, Planning Epic Parties are what I live for but having a great party goes beyond the budget.

It's about putting that signature stamp on your event that screams YOU! Guests should be able to walk into the space and think, "Yes, this is all John" or "ABC co. has really outdone themselves, this totally represents what they stand for!"

You're not going to achieve that reaction by playing it safe and having the same ol' run of the mill event.

It's all about being true to yourself and "Stepping outside the box".
